Punjab Technical University,Jalandhar was established in 1997 & has over 300  colleges under its affailiation, out of which about 88  offer engineering courses. Dr.Rajneesh Arora who has attained B-Tech (Elec.) and PH.D from IIT-Delhi. is the VC of university.

PTU ADMISSION COUNSELING 2012

Earlier the University used to conduct a Common Entrance Test – CET for admission to B-Tech courses in affiliated colleges, but the CET has now been scrapped & it has been decided to admit the students on the AIEEE rank basis. However the PTU has been appointed to conduct the counseling process for its affiliated colleges as well as for the other state Universities in the state.

Other State Candidates: 15% of the available seats in PTU affiliated engineering colleges are reserved for the other state candidates on the basis of their AIEEE rank.

Counseling for admission is normally carried out Online & students of home state as well as other states can register Online from any place convenient to them.

PTU On Line Counseling Fee Payment Method: Counseling fee can be deposited in designated bank branches. You can visit www.ptuonline.in & click on the selected bank & take a printout of the e-slip in order to be able to deposit the counseling fee in the given branch. Your payment status will be updated on the PTU website with in 48 hours.

PTU On Line Counseling Registration Method: Having paid the counseling fee the candidates shall log on to www.ptuadmissions.nic.in  where registration form shall be displayed on screen & candidates shall fill the required student data in line with their AIEEE rank card.

PTU On Line Choice Filling: Then after log-in, candidates registration page displaying Registration Details, edit registration, available choices, fill choices & display filled choices links will appear where you can fill the choices for college & branch in preference order & after checking & or editing the same can be saved for seat allotment as per their rank. After declaration of counseling result the candidate can login to PTU website www.ptuadmissions.nic.in & take a printout of allotment letter & report at their allotted college with original documents with in specified period.

The candidates under Punjab  85% category as well as under other state 15%, category irrespective of whether they have been allotted a seat or not can participate in the 2^nd round of counseling. PTU Management Quota Seats:  33% of the total seats in Private engineering colleges are kept as management quota seats.
